All Saints Church Thurlaston

Regular monthly services have continued on the second Sunday of every month, with a well attended Harvest Thanksgiving (jointly with Thurlaston Chapel and led by Peter Harrison) a Service of Remembrance, Carol Service and Festive Tea, and Communion on Christmas Eve. Thanks to our visiting clergy, regular readers and organist who all contribute to enabling the village community to come together to worship in a meaningful and enjoyable way. It has been very encouraging to receive feedback from them about the welcoming atmosphere in church and how much they look forward to coming to lead services here. It is lovely to welcome new faces, both young and old to the Sunday services and there will always be the opportunity to chat with us over a warm drink and biscuits after the service.

Community involvement –
Different volunteers each month have continued our efforts to brighten up the interior of the building, with regular cleaning parties on the Saturday before each monthly service, and beautiful flower arrangements provided by Paula and her talented helpers. Thanks to Cynthia, the area around the War Memorial and window were tastefully decorated for the Service of Remembrance.

We are so grateful to those who have volunteered their time in this way, your efforts have been noticed and appreciated by all those coming into church.

Community involvement has been further increased by the 2 events held before Christmas, an afternoon in aid of MacMillan and then the first ‘Cake, Cuppa and Chat’ event held in November, it was great to see so many villagers, friends and children in church having a good natter while enjoying some delicious cakes! Money raised at this event has been added to the clock restoration fund.

The next ‘Cake Cuppa and Chat’ will be on February 23rd, 2.30pm in church.

We are always delighted to welcome new faces on Sundays, here are details of upcoming services – Sunday February 11th 4pm
Sunday March 10th Mothering Sunday 4pm
Sunday March 31st Easter Sunday 10am

Tea, coffee and biscuits served after the services.
