Councillors have approved plans for Blaby District Council to lead a new Building Control service from April.
The Leicestershire Building Control Partnership (LBCP) will be an ambitious and forward thinking service, and will see the Council merge its Building Control services with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Melton Borough Council, Harborough District Council, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council and Rutland County Council.
LBCP will offer Building Control services across Leicestershire and Rutland, bringing together the knowledge and experience of all Councils under one improved and joined up umbrella service. Blaby District Council will manage the service on behalf of all the local authorities.
Several councils already working together in the original shared working arrangements have experienced significant cost savings as part of their shared working. It is expected that the formal launch of the fully joined up Leicestershire Building Control Partnership will bring about further efficiency savings whilst also improving service delivery for the customer.
