Eddie And The Gold Tops

Live & Local event at Enderby Civic Centre Sunday 7th May 2023.

This play was scheduled long before Charles chose this weekend for his coronation! 56 people came and enjoyed the latest offering from the Badapple Theatre Company. The company is celebrating 25 years of touring. Enderby has been lucky enough to host previous productions by them. They specialise in new comedy specifically designed for rural touring.

This play (by Kate Bramley) is set in the Sixties and has 13 characters played by 3 actors. Edwin is a milkman in the village of Bottledale and loves nothing better than delivering milk to his loyal customers helped by his trusty horse Angelo (scene-stealer extraordinaire!) He also enjoys strumming his guitar, singing and composing. His life changes when a promoter needs him to perform in public and he is a big hit. He tries to keep both ‘jobs’ going at the same time, performing at night as Eddie, delivering milk early in the morning, falling asleep the rest of the time and ignoring his girlfriend! The cast work so hard playing all the roles and moving the set around. They also have to erect and dismantle the stage themselves. They tour with just 1 technician.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening with interval refreshments provided by Enderby Library volunteers. If you have never been to a Live & Local production before I would urge you to go. The tickets are reasonably priced and you can see professional actors perform close to your own home.
