Members of Enderby Bowls Club are now preparing the Bowling Club for the coming outdoor bowling season starting in April. The effects of winter are being cleared and the Bowling Green surrounds and flower beds tidied up with careful maintenance. The Club House has been spring cleaned with new fixtures added and others updated.
The coming season’s bowling fixtures have been finalised and the programme shows a wide spread of games over each day of the week. This arrangement offers both friendly and competitive league games during the morning and afternoon on most days of the week and for those working, games in the evening and weekends.
Last year’s bowling season was a success with many new members joining following our open days. To continue our drive to increase membership, two more “Open Days” are planned for the 27th & 28th May this year so that visitors can inspect our Club House with its superb facilities. The Bowling Green will be set out allowing visitors to look around our ground and try their hand at bowling. Bowls tutors will be on hand to explain the techniques of bowling.
Bowling is a skilful and social game and can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of sex, age or ability. It is a simple game, encouraging comradeship and friendship that is fun to play in a friendly outdoor sportsman-like environment. You can choose to play in simple ”roll-ups” with your friends, or if feeling competitive you can join a team playing in local inter-club leagues and competitions.
