Another busy month for our library community. Our regular library customers saw the display re “The Journal” and its early days. This background material supported Doug Maas – the Journal’s first editor – who gave an insight into how The Journal started. The session was well attended, and Doug reminisced and gave us insight which brought alive the first few years of the publication. Thanks to Doug for giving his support and time to make the event a great hit.
Our adult spring wreath-making activity took place with a small but determined group of crafters. Everyone created a wreath with appropriate trimmings to “finish it off” as we ran out of time on the day! If you fancy a go at crafting (and cake eating!), we hold monthly adult craft sessions- the next ones are Tuesdays, 16th May and 13th June 2.30-4pm. It’s an opportunity to socialise, have fun and develop new skills. Our weekly Busy Hands sessions, Mondays 2-4pm, are also available for experienced or novice knitters, sewers or crocheters.
Our younger members also took part in a crafting session and made beautifully decorated Easter baskets. Other children played with a selection of building toys – Lego/marble run. Don’t forget that we hold monthly pre-school playtime sessions. Activities vary but may include building blocks, playdoh, puzzles etc. These sessions support socialisation for both the little ones and, of course, their carers! Our next event is Wednesday 31st May 2-3pm.
And finally, our next coffee morning is Saturday 13th May 10am-1pm where we will be celebrating our 7th Birthday as a Community Library. Come along for a cake, a cuppa and a chat. Our team of lovely volunteers will be there together with a book stall, tombola and raffle. All the funds raised go towards keeping the library available for our community. We hope to see you there!
