Happy New Year all! We hope you enjoyed your holidays. It was lovely to see so many new and ‘old’ faces in the library in the run up to Christmas. We sold a lot of Christmas-related items at the hugely successful Enderby Light Switch-on and at our Christmas coffee morning. We ran out of the gift bags and handmade crackers and sold a lot of jars of preserves, glass ornaments and Christmas bookmarks. We also sold a lot of books which were in perfect condition and made good presents.
Our one Christmas wreath-making session was not so popular this year but those that did come along enjoyed themselves and made some lovely garlands.
All the volunteers were able to enjoy a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch before Christmas. It was a chance for us all to meet up and chat to other volunteers we may not see very often whilst enjoying food and drink – perfect.
The adult social crafting group made some beautiful fresh foliage candle decorations. These sessions continue this year with the next being on the 7th February entitled ‘Hearts and Roses’, 2.30 to 4pm. £2.50 per person. As usual, all materials and cake will be provided. March’s will be on the 7th, ‘Spring Flowers’.
You will be glad to hear our pre-schoolers sessions will continue this year. Dates are 25th January, 22nd February and 29th March. 2 till 3, donation of £1 per child. Lots of activities for the tots to join in with.
Our next coffee morning will be on the 11th February. All the usual goodies for sale – books and jigsaws, coffee and homemade cake, raffle and / or tombola, knitting patterns, personalised books marks. Most importantly, it’s a good place to be on a Saturday morning between 10 and 1. If you’ve got unwanted gifts, we would welcome them for our fund-raising activities.
The library will be having a table at the Parish Council Jumble Sale in the Civic Centre on the 29th January, 10 till 2. We hope you can support us there and the other table-holders. It’s a long time since I went to a Jumble Sale! I’m looking forward to it. See you there.
Before we know it, it will be half-term! Our volunteers will be laying on craft activities on the Tuesday and Friday of that week, plans to be finalised so keep watching FB and the library windows.
