Enderby Community Library June 2022

Everyone enjoyed themselves at our special 6th birthday coffee morning. As ever, it was lovely to see so many people in the library. The very nice birthday cake was provided by Enderby Co-op. Lia from the Co-op performed the cutting ceremony.

Thank you to those who visited our tombola at the Party on the Park Jubilee Event at Mill Lane rec. It was a very successful day and helped by weather that was better than forecast. We did have the new Parish Council gazebo out for the first time though so we would have coped! It provided a much-needed windbreak. The Jubilee crown-making was popular as well, with the crowns and ‘jewels’ all used up a long time before the close of the party. We were also selling some ready-made book marks and will have more in the library. This is as well as the large selection of patterns and shapes allowing you to request a bespoke one. These are priced at £1 and the money goes to the library.

The Elmer the Elephant celebration day was great fun for all, adults and children. Who doesn’t love Elmer? And making your own version from a plastic milk bottle was interesting.

On the 2nd July, we will be taking part in the Enderby Open Gardens organised by the Parish Council. We will have at least one volunteer selling books on her driveway and another opening her garden. Look out for us on the map when it’s available.

The special Open Garden afternoon on Wednesday 6th July is sold out but we have a reserves list. Let’s hope the weather is good that day as well.

Barbara and Audrey have finalised the school summer holidays fun events – our Summer Sizzlers. Posters are in the library windows and will be on FB but can be summarised as a mixture of activities in the library, wombles and games on Mill Lane rec. Suggested donation of £2.00 per child but this is not compulsory. Booking is only required for the wombling which is on Tuesday 19th July and Tuesday 16th August. Sign up in the library. All activities will be ideally suited to toddlers and primary age children. The pre-school playtimes will continue as normal, last Wednesday of the month, 2 till 3.

We have sunflower plants for sale in the library with the proceeds going to the Ukraine.
