The art show in April was enjoyed by many. So much talent on display, all by our wonderful local amateurs including A Place to Grow and the Enderby Art Group. We also had some very good dragon pictures submitted by local children which are on display in the library now. Thank you to all those who took part and volunteered on the day.
Everyone had a good evening at our annual celebration of our greatest playwright, William Shakespeare. Julia really makes his plays and poetry come to life. And many thanks to our local amateur actors (library volunteers) for their enactments of famous scenes. They were a treat to behold. We look forward to next year’s productions.
Jubilee quiz sheets are available now until 10th June. £1 each and the winner will get a prize. Get those little grey cells working.
We have the cards and maps for the ‘Beat The Street’ activity in the library. Just pick up your card and off you go.
Come in and choose your personalised book mark, all profits to the library. There is a large selection of patterns and shapes. When you’ve chosen your favourite just place your order at the counter and Jennifer will make them up for you. These are priced at £1 and would make an ideal present for a reading friend or a treat for yourself.
The next pre-schoolers activities will be on the 25th May, 2 till 3, £1 per child. Usually held on the last Wednesday of the month.
Tickets are on sale now to meet Marilyn Ricci, local author and poet who will talk about her book ‘Dancing at the Asylum’, her fictional tribute to the patients who lived and died in the Carlton Hayes Hospital. We especially invite anyone who has a connection with Carlton Hayes to come along and share their memories of what was a special place in our area. This takes place on Saturday June 11th, 2 till 4. Tea and biscuits included in the ticket price of £4. Proceeds from book sales and raffle on the day will go to MIND.
We will run a tombola stall at the Party on the Park Jubilee Event on Friday 3rd June, Mill Lane rec. See you there.
