Once again, we’ve been busy during October & early November. The children’s half-term activity was a huge hit with 25 children & 16 adults taking part in a fun-filled afternoon involving participation and dressing up. It was run by “Preacher the Storyteller” – a professional storyteller and an advocate for children’s growth, health, and mental well-being. The feedback was tremendous, and we would like to thank Preacher for giving his time to us for free – a great afternoon for everyone.
The November coffee morning was busy, and it was lovely to see so many of our community. The Remembrance displays were poignant; thanks to the Busy Hands group who made the poppies for inside the library as well as those across the memorial soldiers and bench on Townsend Row. In keeping with our tradition, the proceeds of the refreshments were given to the Royal British Legion. Our next coffee morning is December 16th – and as well as the usual homemade cakes, pre-loved books and tombola, there’ll be a special raffle which will include Xmas hampers. So come along and join the fun!
Thinking of fun, Enderby Parish Council is again organising the Xmas Lights Switch On Friday 1st December 4 – 7pm. Our library volunteers will be out in force supporting Santa as elves, manning the refreshments and the tombola stalls as well as selling pre-loved books. The PC have kindly agreed that the raffle proceeds from this event will go towards the upkeep of the library so do come along and start the festive season off in style.
Saturday 9th December 1.30 – 4pm we are hosting a Xmas craft session where you can create a beautiful painted glass table centrepiece for floating candles. Accompanied children can also take part in a creative activity. Tickets – to be purchased in advance from the library – are £10 for adults and £5 for accompanied children over 8 years.
And finally, looking forward to 2024. We are holding our annual quiz evening with soft drinks and food on Saturday 24th February. Tickets are £7 and will be available from the library.
It just remains for us to thank everyone who continues to support our community libraries and to wish you all a lovely festive season. We look forward to seeing you next year.
