We would like to thank everyone who celebrated our 7th birthday as a Community Library at our May coffee morning. As well as our usual homemade cake selection, Barbara (one of our volunteers) made 2 birthday cakes which went down very well, our next coffee morning is Saturday 15th July – pop along and support us, we’d love to see you there.
Our adult activities go from strength to strength. Busy Hands(knitting/crocheting/needlework) is on every Monday afternoon; our over 60s gamers meet the first Wednesday afternoon and our Creative Writing group meets the last Saturday of the month. Our Adult Social crafters explored water colour crayons last month under the tutelage of Pete Wright, an accomplished watercolour artist. Some of the results were lovely. This group recommences in September – look out for our update here.
Our pre-schooler sessions continue to run monthly- the next one is 28th June. These sessions support the development of fine motor skills and give parents and carers opportunities to meet up and socialise. Its lovely to see the babies and toddlers (and their grown-ups!) using our spaces and toys.
Our children’s half term activities involved celebrating World Elmer Day with children making and decorating a mini-Elmer, as well as dressing up and playing. Planning for the summer break, we will be running similar activities based on a seaside theme. Think shells, pebbles, driftwood, fish, beach huts, mermaids, and other underwater life! Children can make their own seaside creations to take home and to decorate the library. The dates for this are 25th July, and August 1st, 8th, and 15th. The cost is £2 per child and as usual the proceeds will help fund the library. We will also be running our Summer Reading Challenge – more details next month.
Finally, a date for your diary. We have arranged a visit to a garden in Newtown Linford 11th July at 2.30pm. This is part of the National Garden Scheme. Tickets are £8 which includes tea and cake and are available from the library. If you need a lift to the garden, please let us know when buying your ticket. We hope to see you there!
