The pre-schoolers sessions this year are very popular. It’s lovely to see all the tinies and their carers enjoying themselves. The next dates are the 30th March and the 27th April, 2 till 3, £1 per child. Activities vary but most will help develop fine motor skills and sensory awareness. Most importantly though they are great fun!
We had so many children and carers in for the half-term holiday activities. It was popular every day for the free self-led activities but fantastically well-supported for Tuesday’s special crafting session. I think Barbara made a ton of play dough and she and Audrey enjoyed themselves as much as the children. Thanks to them and all the other volunteers who helped out during the week.
We are also thinking forward to our Easter holiday activities so keep an eye out for the publicity for those.
Talking of Easter, at time of writing we haven’t confirmed our opening times over the Bank Holiday weekend so check out FB and/or the library windows nearer the time.
Our coffee mornings are drawing in the crowds still. We ran out of tables and chairs so apologies to those who had to sit on the stairs! April’s will be on the 9th and we’ll have a special one on May 14th when we will be celebrating our 6th birthday as a community library. We will make sure there are more seats available!
Adult social crafting made some lovely Spring cards using some new techniques Barbara showed us. The next session is on 5th April when the theme will be ‘Easter’. 2.30 till 4 to include tea and cake and chat. £2.50 per person. Believe me, Barbara will have you creating something you didn’t dream you could do!
3 dates for your diaries, details to follow closer to the time: 21st April our annual celebration of Shakespeare and please don’t be put off by your school experiences! It is a fun evening with Julia in charge and drinks and nibbles. Julia has a large amount of display material on our greatest playwright / poet and we will read the ‘best bits’!
Also in April, on the 23rd we’ll be hosting an art exhibition by local amateur artists in the Civic Centre and on June 11th we invite you in to meet Marilyn Ricci, author of Dancing at the Asylum, her book dedicated to the people who lived and worked in the Carlton Hayes asylum. Tickets are available for this event now in the library.
Finally, you may have noticed we have devoted our central plinth display to Ukraine. I hope you appreciate the sentiment.
