At our first meeting of the year, in January, we discussed our forthcoming trip to Le Haillan in May and suggested suitable gifts for the Mayor and the President of the association as well as for the French friends we stay with.

Our French visitors were due to come over here last Spring but, at the last minute, a French air traffic controllers’ strike prevented most of the party from coming. Nevertheless, we proceeded with the weekend’s activities which included going to Winterbourne House and by taking a canal trip in Birmingham as a group, as well as private visits to places of interest. We had lovely meals at Kilworth Springs Golf Club, Winstanley House and a musical evening with supper at Broughton Astley Village Hall.

At the meeting we also talked about recent successful social events including a very enjoyable Skittles evening in Huncote and a delicious Christmas lunch at Kilworth Springs. We plan to continue meeting up for Sunday lunches from time to time as they proved very popular last year and give us a chance to socialise between Twinning meetings and catch up on news from France.
