Huncote WI has enjoyed a wide range of speakers over the last few months.
In April we were entertained with a talk entitled “On my doorstep”. The topic was photography. Ian Pettit showed us a wide variety of photographs, taken within a small radius of his home. He encouraged us all to look around us and snap interesting and unusual objects using our mobile phone cameras.
“Friends against scams” was our May talk by Ian Parry from Blaby District Council. He gave us advice on how to avoid being scammed, and how we should watch out for signs that our family and friends may have fallen foul of scammers.
In June, Michelle Camm spoke to us about her cancer journey, and described how she had been inspired to write a book and get it published.
Along with other village organisations, Huncote WI was invited by St. James’ Church to exhibit a display celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The event took place in the Church on 4th June, it was wonderful to see so many groups pull together to be a part of the whole celebration.
Our display included photographs from the past as well as more recent WI activities.
