Scarecrow Festival

We are again planning a Scarecrow Festival for the village from Saturday 10th to Saturday 17th September. The theme this year is “Favourite Characters” so get creative! It could be a character from a nursery rhyme, book or film for example. As last year, there will be cream teas and some stalls and games at the village hall on Saturday 17th when the winners will be announced. Senior Citizens’ Summer Trip

The trip to Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire in June was a great day out, with equally good weather. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets for the outing and thanks especially to Liz and Jackie for their great organisation.

 

 

Our regular LCA activities will be continuing as usual:

Art Club

The Art Club continues in the village hall on Biddle Road on Tuesdays 2pm-4pm. The cost is £3.50 per session. For more information contact Tom Bates on 0116 275 2656.

Drop-in Coffee Morning

The Drop-Ins also continue to take place on the second Saturday of the month, 10.00-12.00, also in the village hall.

Book sale

This takes place on the village hall every other Wednesday 9am-midday.

Feel Good Walks

Penny Bates runs the Feel-Good Walks which take place every Thursday morning from The Plough carpark, ready to set off at 10.30am. There is no need to book. The walks will be at a leisurely pace and finish at approximately midday. For more information contact Penny on 0116 275 2656.

Short Mat Bowls

Short mat bowls resumes in September and takes place Thursdays 7pm-9pm in the village hall.

LCA meetings

The committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 8pm, alternately in The Plough and The Old Inn. New faces are always welcome.
