We are running a Scarecrow Festival in September with a “Royalty” theme. You could create a scarecrow version of a member of the Royal Family; or you could go down the Disney Prince/Princess route; anything that could loosely fit the Royalty theme!
We are asking for scarecrows to be up by Saturday 16th September and left up for a week with winners announced at the village hall on Saturday 23rd September. We will be serving afternoon teas in the village hall on Saturday 23rd along with games, a cake stall and a raffle.
We would be very grateful of any cake donations on the day for our cake stall; please bring them to the village hall from midday. We would also appreciate any bottle donations for our “Bottlebola” stall. Please bring to either the Drop-in at the village hall on 9th September, or to the village hall on 23rd.
Our regular LCA activities will be continuing as usual:
The Art Club continues in the village hall on Biddle Road on Tuesdays 2pm-4pm. The cost is £4.00 per session. For more information contact Tom Bates on 0116 275 2656.
The Drop-In Coffee Mornings also continue to take place on the second Saturday of the month, 10.00-12.00, also in the village hall.
The Book Sale, Coffee Morning & Warm Space takes place every other Wednesday 9am-1pm in the village hall on Biddle Rd. We have received a grant from the council to be able to offer soup and a bread roll at lunchtime, so we hope to welcome faces old and new.
Gill Ward is continuing to lead the Feel-Good Walks. They take place every Thursday morning from The Plough carpark, ready to set off at 10.15am. There is no need to book. The walks will be at a leisurely pace and finish at approximately midday.
Short mat bowls takes place Thursdays 7pm-9pm in the village hall. New members are welcome.
LCA meetings – The committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm, alternately in The Plough and The Old Inn. New faces are always welcome.
