We had a busy end to the year with the Senior Citizens’ Christmas outing and the Santa Run.
The Senior Citizens’ outing was for a Christmas meal at Carsington Water in Derbyshire, as always organised by Liz and Jackie. Many thanks to them for their time and effort in researching and organising it all.
Then the week before Christmas, Santa did his rounds of the streets of Littlethorpe as usual. The charity we were collecting for this time was The Laura Centre, a local charity that supports families who have experienced bereavement of a child, sibling or parent. We collected an amazing £360. Thank you for your generosity. Thanks too to everyone who helped out over the two evenings.
At the last Drop-in of 2022 we also said a big thank you to Dennis Jones who has been Santa for the Littlethorpe Santa Run since its inception decades ago!! He was presented with a winter-flowering camellia for his garden. Thank you to Iain Hamilton who made a great Santa this year.
Thank you too to Blaby District Council who provided us with a grant to go towards some of the costs of both the Santa Run and the Christmas outing, which has been a great help.
Our regular activities will be continuing as usual:
Book Sale, Coffee Morning & Warm Space: This takes place every other Wednesday 9am-1pm in the village hall on Biddle Rd. We have also received a grant from the council to be able to offer soup and a bread roll at lunchtime so we hope to welcome faces old and new.
Art Club: The Art Club continues in the village hall on Biddle Road on Tuesdays 2pm-4pm. The cost is £3.50 per session. For more information contact Tom Bates on 0116 275 2656.
Drop-in Coffee Morning: The Drop-Ins also continue to take place on the second Saturday of the month, 10.00-12.00, also in the village hall.
Feel Good Walks: Penny Bates has been running the Feel-Good Walks which take place every Thursday morning from The Plough carpark, ready to set off at 10.30am. There is no need to book. The walks will be at a leisurely pace and finish at approximately midday. For more information contact Penny on 0116 275 2656.
