Narborough and Littlethorpe Community Library August 2025

Thank you to everyone who visited our stall at the Party in the Park at Narborough Park in August. We appreciated having the opportunity to promote our work in Narborough and Littlethorpe. We hope those we spoke to visit us soon!

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge is ending on September 6th, so be sure to come in to get your medals for reading six books over the summer. Congratulations to those who have completed the challenge already, we love awarding the medals to our avid readers!

The 8th of August is book lovers day, so we picked some of our favourite books for our display. They included There Are Rivers In The Sky by Elif Shafak, The Memoirs of a Survivor by Doris Lessing and

Flowers of Algernon by Daniel Keyes. If we don’t have the book you’re looking for on our shelves, don’t forget that you can order them from other libraries. Our librarians can help you with this or you can order them yourself at www.leicestershire.gov.uk/leisure-and-community/libraries, you just need your library card number and PIN.

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a quiz at Littlethorpe Village Hall on October 24th. Tickets will be available in September, so keep an eye on our website and noticeboards for posters with more information.

Our regular groups have been running through the summer and continue to be fun for those who attend. We have our weekly Wriggly Readers group for preschoolers, they tell stories and do fun, often art, activities. For adults, we have our board games group, where they mostly play Scrabble, but other games are available. The Digital Drop-In group is social and also provides technology help. You can take your own device or borrow one that we have at the library. Both of these groups are weekly. Finally, our Busy Hands and Minds group meet twice a month. It’s a social group where they work on their own projects, or work on projects for the library, which you would have seen outside the library.

Wriggly Readers – Every Tuesday, 9:15am – 10:15am

Board Games Group – Every Tuesday, 11am – 1pm

Digital Drop-In – Every Wednesday, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Busy Hands and Minds – Every 1st and 3rd Friday, 2pm – 4pm

There is no need to book in for the groups, just drop in when you want to take part. There is a £1 charge for each group that goes towards refreshments and funding the ongoing costs of running the library.
