The Summer Reading Challenge is in full swing and children have been collecting their completers medal after reading six books. The challenge ends on Saturday September 6th, so make sure everyone gets their books read and collects their medals from the library! We’ll be open on the final day from 10am – 1pm to award medals to our final completers.

Last month we had a craft event with some of our Summer Reading Challengers, where we enjoyed painting rocks. We also offered them seeds to plant in their garden as gardens are the theme of this year’s challenge.

Our crafting group, Busy Hands and Minds, have also contributed to the Summer Reading Challenge fun by making a display full of flowers and wildlife you may find in your garden. It’s a lovely idea to show it to children and get them to spot and name as many animals as they can! 

Thank you to the local nursery children who have coloured in sunflowers which we have hung in our garden. The children have created beautiful colour combinations to brighten up the village.

July was Disability Pride Month. We had a poster and display of books including biographies of people with a disability and some non-fiction books that can offer support to those with disabling conditions. These can be found permanently in the non-fiction section, we also still have a collection of books on dementia.

Our next preloved book sale will be on Saturday, August 30th at the library from 10:15am – 12:30pm. Thanks to everyone who has donated books. We have boxes of adult fiction and non-fiction, as well as a huge selection of children’s books, come and fill a bag for £3!

We will be announcing our next quiz at Littlethorpe Village Hall in the next few months, keep an eye on our website, social media, and noticeboards around the villages for details and tickets.

Also please note that we will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August.
