Spring is here and our Busy Hands and Minds crafting group have adorned the library with knitted tulips and daffodils, matching the beautiful daffodils in our garden that are brightening up the village.
World Book Day was extra special for the library this year as we were joined by children from Rob John’s nursery. The library was visited by animals, princesses and even Spiderman as the children were dressed as their favourite book characters! They enjoyed storytime with Julie who read Peace at Last (Jill Murphy) and Dear Zoo (Rod Campbell). I think their favourite part of the outing was making the noises of the animals in the books, especially roaring as loud as they can like the lion on the book cover!
This month at the library we have been celebrating International Women’s Day (March 8th). A wonderful poster of Elizabeth I was on display. We selected a few recommended books and authors for the display and posted a blog post about them on our website (nandlclibrary.org). They included The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See, Atalanta by Jennifer Saint and books by Helen Fielding and Barbara Kingsolver. Next month we will be celebrating English authors for St. George’s day.
Unfortunately, our automatic door is out of order for the time being, please be careful when opening and closing it as it is heavy. If you need assistance, please knock on the door or ring the doorbell and a librarian will help you.
Thank you to everyone who attended our first quiz of the year last month, a great time was had by everyone who attended. We will hold another quiz later in the year.
We will be holding our first book sale of the year on 17th of May, please come along and get some bargain preloved books. Ideal for reading in the garden now the weather is brighter and warmer. All profits from sales go to the ongoing costs of running the library.
If you have any unwanted gifts or suitable items for tombola prizes, please consider donating them to the library. Any donations are hugely appreciated.
Please note we will be closed on Easter Monday, 21st of April. If you have a book to return you can put it in our book drop next to the door or renew it online.
