We’ve had a busy time of late welcoming and training our new volunteers. We held an afternoon tea this month for our volunteers, it was well attended and gave the new volunteers a chance to meet a few more people and before having shifts with them. Of course, we’re all a friendly bunch, but it’s nice to say hello. We are always happy to add some additional volunteers to our team, in particular we need someone who will be able to organise our events. Our events include a few quizzes a year, our summer and winter fayres and volunteer social events. These events are vital for our fundraising to keep the library open. Our Board Games group have been enjoying some friendly competition with their weekly Scrabble games, other games are available but Scrabble remains a firm favourite. We’ve recently got a new Scrabble set with larger printed tiles and board, an excellent idea that just makes play a little easier for some of us. The group meets every Tuesday from 11am – 1pm, costs £1 a session and includes a drink and biscuit. Come and join in to see if your skills can match our regulars, make friends and share a warm drink with our group!
We are holding a Christmas Fayre on Saturday, 7th December, from 2-4pm at the library. We’ll be selling handmade gifts, crafts and greeting cards. For children there will be a lucky dip with prizes, and colouring competition (ages 4-11) with prizes of advent calendars!
Our Busy Hands and Minds group have been working on our Christmas decorations for the library; they meet every 1st and 3rd Friday from 2-4pm, if you want to join them.
Our Christmas novels for adults and children’s books will be on our shelves shortly, so come down to the library and get yourself a festive read. With the cold weather now here, staying indoors with a book sounds very appealing. Our new books are delivered every Thursday so we always have plenty to choose from.
