An enthusiastic bunch of 16 people enjoyed playing Scrabble, dominoes and cards at the first session of the new board games group and fun was the priority, with a prize awarded to the lowest score! The sessions run fortnightly on Tuesday mornings from 11.00 – 1.00pm with the next sessions on 21st March and 11th April so do come along. It’s free – and ‘jazzy’ (33 points) is better than ‘skill’ (9 points).
Challenging the memory will be the order of the day on 24th March at 6.45pm when the library hosts a quiz at Littlethorpe Community Centre. Join a team on the night or put together a team yourself of up to 6 people. Tickets are available from the library and the £7 cost includes a light supper; bring your own drinks if you want to loosen the grey cells. Please note, advance booking is essential.
It’s free to join the library and you can borrow up to 24 books at a time for 3 weeks but, sometimes, you want books to keep on your shelf at home or to take away on holiday and leave them, filling the space they took in your suitcase with souvenirs when you come home. The library book sale on 1st April from 10.15am to 12.30pm will have a wide variety of pre-loved books that can be yours for a fraction of the usual cost so it’s a great chance stock up. All proceeds go to the library running costs.
There’s more to Narborough & Littlethorpe Community Library than you might imagine but it depends on volunteers and we’re always looking for new recruits. Call in at the library or check the website (www.nandlclibrary.org) to see what opportunities are available. It’s a great way to get involved in village life and meet new friends.
