The last few weeks have been busy at the community library with a burst of activity in the children’s section and lots of new young readers discovering the world of books. Luckily, the rearrangement of the space has given more room for sitting on the floor and exploring the shelves, and there’s plenty for the grown-ups to search while the little ones are engrossed. An added attraction has been the coronation display outside the building with children from local nurseries bringing parents and carers to see their handiwork alongside the craftworks created by the Busy Hands group. With the coronation over, Busy Hands are already working on their next project – to decorate the library on the theme of The Seaside. If you’d like to join in and create something for the display, drop in on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 2.00-4.00pm and meet the gang.
Tuesday mornings are always busy, with Wriggly Readers, our activity sessions for pre-school children, from 9.15 to 11.00; and the new Board Games group taking over from 11.00 to 1.00pm. The board games group has proved so successful that it’s now meeting every week rather than fortnightly. Come and meet like-minded people over a cup of tea and biscuits and join in the fun.
Thursday is a big day in the library because that’s when the weekly delivery of new books arrives. There’s always a great variety of crime, adventure, romance, biography and history. Although the library building is small, its collection of books is huge! If you can’t see what you’re looking for on the shelves, check the catalogue because you have access to the whole of Leicestershire Libraries stock and can order what you want to be delivered to Narborough for a small charge. If you’re not sure what you’d like for your next read, talk to our volunteer librarians and they can help you find the summer reading that’s perfect for you. What delights will you find?
