Time passes so quickly! It’s difficult to believe we’ve already held three meetings this year. We started, as is becoming usual, with our fish and chip supper in January, always a nice sociable way to start the year! At February’s meeting we had a speaker from Leicester Animal Aid, telling us about the knock-on effects of covid and our relationship with our pets, amongst other things. Our speaker in March told us a lot of things about Edith Piaf we might not have been aware of! In March we also had our Annual Council Meeting for all Leicestershire and Rutland WI’s; the speakers were Eric Knowles, antique expert, who spoke amusingly about some of his life experiences and Ruth Goodman, historian, telling us the history of washing up!
We know that our President, Ann, likes to do many crafts so we shouldn’t have been surprised when she showed us her temperature blanket. She knitted a row each day from January 1st to 31st December 2022, the bluer the colour of wool she used the colder the weather was and the redder the wool the warmer it was! Ann even knitted in a bit of black wool to mark the passing of our dear Queen.
At our next meeting in April, our speaker will be Hannah from the shop Habbyhub in Enderby, hopefully we’ll all feel inspired to attempt a craft project after that!
If you are interested to find out more about us we meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (not December) at 7.30pm in St Pius X church hall, Narborough. Please come along, a warm welcome awaits you!
