Firstly, a sporting update – congratulations to all the Key Stage 2 children who competed at Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium. Over the year, many children have represented The Pastures showing a huge range of skills, determination and sportsmanship. We are so proud of you all! Our School Games Morning was blessed with lovely weather and the children enjoyed competing in a range of different activities with Phoenix the winning team in both EYFS/Key Stage 1, and in Key Stage 2. Congratulations to all the children who competed and showed amazing sporting behaviour, and to family members for their wonderful support.
As usual, it was a busy end of term including discos for EYFS/Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and a barbecue for Year 6 who also had an action-packed residential to Walesby Forest Outdoor Adventure Activity Centre near Newark. They enjoyed a range of exciting activities including a zip line, high ropes, laser tag, cave maze and tomahawk throwing! Many thanks to Walesby Forest and Pastures staff for making it such a fantastic experience for all the children. Finally, the whole school enjoyed the rides and other attractions at Wicksteed Theme Park in Kettering despite some inclement weather.
Year 5 and 6’s energetic end of year performance was ‘Bugsy Malone’ which brought the roaring twenties to life complete with a speakeasy, splurge guns and cream pies! The standard of acting, singing and dancing proved to be a real treat for every member of the audiences. Congratulations to all the children and staff for giving us such a wonderful production!
The Summer Fair had its usual range of activities and stalls including the children’s ‘Enterprise’ ventures which raised money by selling hand-made products and other activities. The highlight of the fair was ‘Pastures Got Talent’. Congratulations to all our finalists but particularly to the winning act, The Three Amigos! Many thanks to the staff for all their hard work and to everyone who attended helping us raise over £4,000.
In our Leavers’ Assembly, we said a sad farewell to the year 6’s. They shared the highlights of their time at The Pastures, and we wished them good luck at their new schools. We also said goodbye to Mrs Porter who is retiring from the pre-school Club after 23 years although she will continue with a few sessions after school. We wish her a very happy (semi) retirement!
Finally, at the end of another busy academic year, we would like to thank all the parents, carers and friends of The Pastures for your continued support. Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing the children back in school on Tuesday 27th August.
