Year 1/2 have been studying the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, famous for her use of repeated patterns and polka dots, producing their own beautiful work in Kusama’s style. The children also re-enacted the Battle of Hastings on the school field complete with shields and swords made in school; they also recreated part of the Bayeux Tapestry using a range of sketching techniques.
On January 12th, the Year 5/6 ‘Young Voices’ choir performed at the Resorts World Arena, Birmingham accompanied by musicians and artists including Heather Small, former lead vocalist of the band ‘M People’. The children enjoyed singing a wide range of music including a selection of British folk songs, a pop medley from ‘Trolls’ and Nile Rodgers’ ‘Disco Party’. Well done to all of them for working so hard to learn the words and dance routines – you were a credit to the school and to your extremely proud families!
Finally, we were proud to win a ‘Daily Boost’ award. This aims to encourage children to do 15 minutes of organised activity at school every day. The mascot Zoom presented the award for being the school that logged the largest number of active minutes during 2021-22. Congratulations to everyone who got involved!
