Pastures Pinboard January 2025

Christmas and New Year celebrations passed by in a flash and, before we knew it, we were back in school despite floods, snow and generally cold temperatures!

The children are already hard at work on their new topics. EYFS children are finding out about castles and dragons by listening to fairytales; they also celebrated Chinese New Year on January 29th. Key Stage 1 are enjoying being pirates based on the story The Quest for the Mysterious Yo Ho Ho! Meanwhile, they are continuing to find out more about Narborough and the local area in geography, as well as exploring printing in art based on the work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Year 3/4s literacy lessons are based on the oral legend Gilgamesh, a hero who moved mountains and rivers to rescue people in need. In RE, they are finding out what it means to be a Hindu living in Britain and will be visiting a Hindu temple. In geography, Year 5/6 are looking at the United Kingdom and comparing counties while, in art, they are also printing but in the style of artist Alexis Diaz from Puerto Rico. In addition, the whole school had an RE enrichment day linked to World Religions Day; this helped everyone learn and understand more about different faiths, cultures, traditions and celebrations.

Finally, this term there are even more opportunities for Pastures’ children to be active and learn new skills with clubs (during and after school) including football, archery, art, drawing, reading and coding (computer programming). Lots of opportunities throughout the spring term to learn and have fun!
