Pastures Pinboard March 2023

‘Move it March’ was launched in a whole school assembly with a special guest – the mascot Active Anita. We are encouraging children to increase their physical activity by recording every 15 minutes of walking, running, PE lessons and any other exercise that requires physical exertion (including walking, cycling or scooting to and from school). Bronze, silver and gold awards will be presented while platinum winners will become ‘Blaby Bears Active Champions’ and entered into a prize draw. The most active class in school will also win a trophy.

Year 4 enjoyed their two-day residential at Boundless Outdoors, Worcestershire. The children enjoyed a range of exciting, and sometimes challenging, outdoor pursuits including grass sledding, zip wiring, climbing, orienteering and problem solving. They also developed leadership and teamwork skills whilst gaining independence by being away from home. All the children were a credit to the school – well done to you all! While the Year 4s were away, the 3s enjoyed a range of activities planned around Japan. In particular, we welcomed ‘Leicester Taiko’ who led a workshop teaching us the basics of Japanese drumming. The children quickly produced some amazing rhythms and achieved a cardio workout as well!

On World Book Day, children and staff celebrated their love of reading by dressing up as their favourite book characters. Everyone looked amazing in their costumes with Harry Potters and Hermiones, Snow Whites, Gangsta Grannies and Superheroes proving very popular. Our reading ambassadors had the difficult job of judging the best costumes and awarding prizes. During the day, children had lots of time to read and listen to stories, as well as lots of other book related activities including designing bookmarks and front covers and taking part in book scavenger hunts. In addition, every child received a Book Voucher to encourage them to read even more!
