Pastures Pinboard November 2025

This term, EYFS are exploring their world, noticing changes in the seasons as well as learning about space and the polar regions; meanwhile, children in year 1/2 have been ‘travelling’ around the UK finding out about the different countries and their famous landmarks. Year 3/4’s literacy is based on Boudicca, a fierce leader who led an uprising against the Romans. In geography, they are investigating Europe with a focus on Poland, Spain and Norway. Finally, year 5/6 are designing, making and evaluating a moving Grinch themed vehicle in time for Christmas!

Along with thousands of others across the UK, we raised money to support the work of The Royal British Legion; the children decorated with poppies the letters that made up the important message. ‘Lest We Forget’ which were then displayed outside school. On Remembrance Day, the whole school fell silent for one minute so we could further pay our respects. Odd Sock Day marked the start of Anti-Bullying Week with everyone able to demonstrate what makes them unique and special. Meanwhile, our School Council, came up with fund raising ideas for Children in Need including dressing up in crazy clothes. Many thanks to everyone for their generous donations.

As we head towards Christmas, the children and staff alike are getting increasingly excited. There are plans for a Christmas film night accompanied by popcorn and sweets as well as a Christmas Fair for the children. Of course, our annual Christmas Art Day returns, full of crafts, sparkle and glitter, plus Christmas Jumper Day where staff and children alike show off their festive knits. This year, for the whole school pantomime visit, we are going to De Montfort Hall to see Dick Whittington (and of course his trusty cat).

The children will be entertaining parents and other family members: EYFS and Key Stage 1 are working hard on the Nativity Hoedown ‘Prickly Hay’ featuring Sam, a hardworking stable boy, his faithful friend Shrew and some very special visitors! Meanwhile, Key Stage 2 will be singing songs at the end of the school day. Lots to look forward to in the coming weeks!

It only remains for us to wish everyone connected with The Pastures a very merry Christmas, and a happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming the children back into school on Tuesday 6th January 2026!
