Pastures Pinboard September 2025

After a summer when we were blessed with the most amazing weather (if you liked it hot) children and staff returned to school keen to talk about their holiday experiences, whether they went abroad or enjoyed ‘staycations’ nearer home. At the end of term, we were sad to say goodbye to Mrs Dixon who is relishing the exciting challenges in a new role and to Mrs Mullen who retired from the pre-school club after over 24 years. We wish them both the very best of luck! Finally, in staff news, we welcomed Mrs Mason who is working in pre-school.

In EYFS there are 45 new children; they have all settled well and made a smooth transition into full-time school. They have had opportunities to explore their feelings, build good friendships and develop the skills needed to become independent learners. Children in Year 1/2 are finding out how life was different for their nans! They are comparing modern toys with those of the 1960s as well as looking at how technology and transport has changed over the decades. As part of Roald Dahl day, the children enjoyed his stories as well as the illustrations of Quentin Blake, even recreating artwork in his style. Year 3/4 are going back in time to find out about how people lived in The Bronze and Iron Ages. In science, they are investigating how plants grow while their literacy is based on The Iron Man, a science fiction novel by Ted Hughes. Year 5/6 are finding out about the Victorian era and the impact of the Industrial Revolution; they are also investigating and testing forces in science. As always, it will be another busy year filled with learning, plenty of exciting experiences and, of course, kindness.

Finally, as always, a word of thanks to our premises officer, Mr Fisher and his band of helpers who continue to ensure The Pastures looks spick and span. Also, thanks to our Governor Mr Hurst for his efforts in The Pastures’ garden, growing and selling a range of produce to raise money. We really appreciate everyone’s hard work!
