It’s been lovely to meet our new starters and their families recently as we welcomed parents into school for an information meeting and the children started transition sessions in our EYFS department. Each family took away a new school book bag, along with a book, and lots of information for their parents and we are looking forward to getting to know everyone properly.
Our year 6 children enjoyed a wonderful week away in Wales at the Call of the Wild residential centre. Here they got to try canoeing, climbing, caving and plenty of other team building activities, really pushing them out of their comfort zones. Everyone approached these with passion and determination and the children were a real credit to the school. They are now practising for their end of year production and preparing for the next stage of their educational journey with their move to secondary school.
We were excited to be visited by the StarDome this month, a portable inflatable planetarium that recreates the night sky. This tied in fantastically for the year 4/5 topic of Earth and Space and they used their knowledge from the experience to create some wonderful solar system dioramas.
We have also hosted the circus in school on behalf of the Friends of Red Hill Field. It was great to see so many people enjoying the event and raising valuable money for the school. Their next event will be the annual Party in the Playground on 8th September – pop the date in your diary.
We’ve got lots to pack in to our last half term including sports day and leavers parties and assemblies. We’re all excited about the last few weeks at school as we bring this academic year to a close.
