Red Hill Field Review March 2022

March has been full of activities here at Red Hill Field, starting off with a wonderful World Book Day, where we celebrated our love of reading and all things book related! Children were invited to design a Book in a Box and bring them into school where they were all proudly displayed. Winners were chosen from each department. We were blown away by the amount of effort and creativity that went into all the boxes, and it was so hard to choose the winning designs! As well as this, the staff at Red Hill Field recorded themselves talking about their own favourite books, introducing the children to new titles and authors.

We’ve also been taking part in lots of physical activity in March, as we joined the Move it March initiative from South Leicestershire School Sports Partnership. Active Anita paid us a visit to talk to the children in assembly and everyone has been very busy recording each time they manage 15 minutes of activity.

In school our year 4/5 children enjoyed a fantastic visit from a Viking who brought in authentic Viking clothing, weapons and games, and EYFS and year 1 children were visited by some animals that they got to handle! Both of these experiences really brought their topics to life and gave them some great hands-on experience!

March is also the month for fundraising for Comic Relief. This year we had the theme of ‘animals’ to tie in with the red noses which were shaped like various animals. Children were allowed to wear ‘animal-themed’ non uniform in exchange for a donation to Comic Relief – thank you to all of our families for their generous contributions.

We’ve also held our annual year 2 residential trip ‘Teddies on Tour’. A coach full of excited pirates headed off to Beaumanor Hall for two action packed days of fun and adventure! Everyone had an amazing time and the children were a real credit to Red Hill Field.
