At the recent handover meeting, Mark Harris from Stoney Stanton became President of the Rotary Club of Blaby for the year 2022/23, from Mike Wright (Countesthorpe) who had been President for the year ended 30th June 2022.
Mark will confidently steer the Club over the next twelve months in its aim to be of charitable service to the communities in Blaby and beyond. As previously, A Place To Grow in Enderby will receive help as will Leicester MusicFest, developing young people in music, as well as Rutland Sailability. The last few years have been disrupted by Covid lockdowns, but the Club restarted raising funds for local charities including Fareshare, Trussell Trust, Shelter Box and, of course, Rotary Foundation, the international charity with its major campaign of eradicating Polio throughout the world, working for helping developing people and peace. We are all looking forward to working with Mark to achieve all he sets out to do.
At this meeting two members of the Rotary Club of Blaby received Rotary honours for their service. Eddie Bestwick (Stoney Stanton) received the Paul Harris Fellowship for long service in Rotary and the Community from President Mike Wright. Also Alan Berry (Narborough) who was unable to be there to receive his award.
The Rotary Club of Blaby meets at lunchtimes on the first three Tuesdays of each month at Stanton Lakes, Broughton Road, Stoney Stanton for informative and interesting talks, food and fellowship.
