Edmonds & Slatter Opticians have proudly announced that their successful winter fundraising campaign raised an impressive £1037 for the local charity Menphys.

Menphys, a Leicestershire-based charity, has been supporting local families for over 50 years. They provide essential services for children and young adults up to 25 years old with additional needs and disabilities, striving to ensure equal opportunities and a fulfilling life for all.

Throughout the recent festive season, Edmonds & Slatter’s dedicated team engaged in various fundraising activities. These included Christmas jumper days at all practices, winter raffles in conjunction with local Christmas light switch-on events, and voluntary donations from patients following complimentary glasses repairs and adjustments.

The decision to support Menphys aligns with Edmonds & Slatter’s commitment to aiding those with visual impairments, particularly children in need of everyday eyecare. This support is vital for individuals who may face challenges accessing such services.

Linda Southin, Operations Manager at Edmonds & Slatter, highlighted the importance of community involvement, stating, “As independent opticians, engaging with our community is crucial. Our team has generously volunteered their time for these charity events, and we are proud to support Menphys.”

This year some of the funds raised will go towards, amongst other projects, Menphys upcoming Mother’s Day event. The charity is hosting an Inclusive Afternoon Tea at the Menphys hub for all the family, featuring card-making, live music, a family photo, and, of course, a delicious afternoon tea.
