St James Church May 2022

Easter – In beautiful weather on Good Friday Fr Andrew held a Stations of the Cross service on The Green at 12 noon. The readings at different stages of Jesus’s path to crucifixion reminded us of the pain of the Easter story followed by the joy of His resurrection. Many thanks to Paul for providing seating and refreshments and to all those who attended the service.

The following day the church was open for viewing of the Easter decorations and there were drinks and hot cross buns in the Church Rooms. Thank you to everyone who helped to celebrate Easter with members of the congregation.

Plant Sale – on Monday 23 May at 6 pm in the Church Grounds church members will be holding their annual Plant Sale. Among the items for sale will be a variety of bedding plants, perennials, beans, tomatoes and other vegetables. Everyone very welcome. The sale will end at 8 pm unless everything is sold before that time! All proceeds to Church Funds.

Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen – At 10 am on Saturday 4 June Fr Andrew will conduct a short service of Thanksgiving to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. This will take place in the Church Grounds (or in church dependant on the weather) and be followed from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm by the chance to come into the church to see flower arrangements and other displays provided by various groups from the village. A warm invitation from Fr Andrew and everyone at St James to come and join us for any part of the morning’s activities. Drinks and biscuits will be served in the Church Rooms.
