Thurlaston really knows how to put on a show! Saturday 25 June saw the return of the annual village Carnival and the turnout was incredible. Around 2,000 people poured onto the village park to celebrate and have fun, with all money raised from the event being used to support village charities and community groups.
Due to Covid restrictions, it had been 2 years since the last event, so everyone was thrilled to be getting together again. The Carnival was opened by the arrival of the Grand Parade and the day continued with performances by Stuntworld International and their incredible motorcycle display, plus the brilliant Arabesque Dancers. There was a dog show for our 4-legged friends, fancy dress and cake competitions, country dancing, fairground rides and a huge selection of stalls – and the legendary hog roast didn’t disappoint! Visitors were also entertained in the marquee with live performances by the Rockin Ronnies.
To round off the day, the marquee was transformed into a live music venue where the fun continued into the warm summer’s night.
Without the support of fellow villagers, friends, family, sponsors and donators the Carnival really wouldn’t be what it is – a HUGE THANK YOU to you all.
We’re already planning next year’s Carnival – we look forward to seeing you there!
