Update on Hayes Gardens engagement

Blaby District Council and Santander UK have thanked the local community for their involvement in a recent engagement exercise for a proposed new community in Narborough and Enderby.

The proposal for the site, known as Hayes Gardens, has the potential to deliver up to 800 new homes along with public open space, play areas, community facilities, and park land.

Hayes Gardens includes Carlton Park, owned by Santander UK, and Enderby Golf Course. The golf course is primarily owned by Blaby District Council with part of the course being owned by Santander UK.

The site is being proposed for inclusion in the Council’s new Local Plan which will be consulted on later this year, and which will guide how the district is developed up until 2041.

The Blaby District Council and Santander UK organised the engagement exercise including a series of in-person events across Enderby and Narborough, as well as a virtual briefing. The community were invited to provide feedback on a range of issues, such as housing need, amenities, and sustainability.

A representative for Blaby District Council and Santander UK said “We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who got involved during the engagement exercise. Whether it was attending an event, completing a feedback form, or leaving a comment on our interactive map, all of this has helped us to understand local priorities as they relate to the vision for Hayes Gardens.

“Our events were attended by over 300 people and during the engagement period we received over 1,000 pieces of feedback from the local community.

“People raised a range of issues with us, such as how the impact on local infrastructure will be managed, pressures on local roads, and the nature of the open space proposed. We will now be taking the time to review this feedback and incorporate it into our proposals where possible.”

Should the proposal be included in the draft Blaby District Local Plan, the next opportunity for the community to provide feedback on the potential development would be later this year.
